PENDLETON – The National Weather Service has issued a flood watch as moderate to heavy rain is forecast for the northern Blue Mountains of Washington and Oregon today (Monday). That is coupled with a concern that localized flooding will occur in the area burned by the Tiger Creek Fire, prompting the issuing of the flood watch. The watch also includes the cities of Meacham and Tollgate.
Forecasters say that there is high confidence that many areas in the northern Blues will receive one-half inch of rain and a good chance the rainfall could measure as high as one inch.
The National Weather Service advises people to monitor later forecasts and be alert for the possibility of the watch being upgraded to flood warnings. Those who live in areas prone to flooding should be prepared to take action.
