Flood Warning issued in Wheeler County

WHEELER COUNTY โ€“ A Flood Warning goes into effect today (Monday) in Wheeler County for the John Day River at Service Creek. Motorists are reminded not to attempt to drive around barricades or drive cars through flooded areas. Also, report observed flooding to local emergency services.

While the waters are high, there are currently no warnings or advisories are listed in Grant County. Even still, keep an eye on local stream levels. Grant County Emergency Management posted a photo on Sunday where water had gone across both lanes of Adam Road in Canyon City at one point. According to the National Weather Service, the river near John Day crested at about 7.9 feet Sunday night, which is just below flood stage.

enforcement and request they pass this information to the National

Weather Service when you can do so safely.

Turn around, don`t drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood

deaths occur in vehicles.
