Five Tips to Prevent Residential Burglaries this Summer

BAKER COUNTY – (information from the Baker County Sheriff’s Office) Following recent reports of residential burglaries, the Baker County Sheriff’s Office are offering advice on how to reduce the risk of a burglary attempt and how to assist the investigation should one occur:

  1. Always make sure your doors are locked when you leave your home.
  1. Consider purchasing a camera or other security system. These may act as a deterrent and could provide valuable evidence in the event of a break-in.
  1. Lock up valuables, including jewelry, cash, and firearms, when you leave your home.
  1. Document all pertinent information of any valuables you are concerned about losing. This includes the make, model, and serial numbers of firearms, which will allow them to be properly logged in law enforcement databases.
  1. Report any suspicious activity around your home or in your neighborhood by contacting the business and non-emergency lines of local law enforcement.
