WALLA WALLA — Authorities apprehended two dogs Monday after a pre-dawn attack at the Walla Walla High School farm left 15 sheep dead and two others seriously injured.

Animal control and sheriff’s deputies located the dogs following the 4:30 a.m. incident. School officials said the dogs breached an enclosure where the lambs were housed. Agriculture teacher Kirsten Gilbert and campus support staff member Scott Brashear discovered the attack at 7:30 a.m. and chased the dogs away.

No students or staff were injured. School operations continued normally, though counseling was made available for those impacted.

Agriculture staff are currently working to replace the animals for upcoming student fair projects. Principal John Schumacher is coordinating support efforts.
