Five Mounties Earn Postseason Honors

LA GRANDE – (Release from Eastern Oregon University) The Cascade Collegiate Conference announced the 2023 Softball postseason honors last Thursday. Eastern Oregon University collected their fair share of hardware earning five All-Conference nods and one individual award. Kaylie Hoskins was named CCC Newcomer of the Year for her record-breaking season in the circle for the Mounties.
 
Eastern was well represented in the All-Conference honors with Hoskins and Hannah Tyree being named First Team All-CCC. Haley Tyree and Maddy Stateler were named Second Team All-CCC while EOU picked up one more nod with an Honorable Mention All-Conference selection in Gates Leatherwood.
 
Hoskins had a record-breaking season on her way to earning First Team All-CCC and CCC Newcomer of the Year, breaking both the EOU single season strikeout record along with the CCC single season strikeout record with 285 total strikeouts. Hoskins carried a 1.17 season ERA in 155.1 total innings pitched earning an 18-6 record while in the circle for the Mountaineers.
 
Hoskins’ battery partner, Hannah Tyree, was also recognized on the First Team for her outstanding year at and behind the plate for the Mounties. Hannah Tyree hit .348 with 47 total hits while adding six home runs, 10 doubles and 34 RBIs. 
 
Eastern added two Second Team All-CCC members in Maddy Stateler and Haley Tyree. Stateler held down the middle infield for the Mounties this season, starting all 48 games at shortstop. Stateler hit .364 with 52 total hits adding 17 RBIs and 10 doubles. Haley Tyree hit .324 with 46 total hits, adding 11 doubles, four home runs and 35 RBIs.
 
The final Mountaineer who earned All-CCC honors was Gates Leatherwood. Leatherwood was named Honorable Mention All-CCC after hitting .349 while adding six home runs, 10 doubles and 27 RBIs for the Mounties this season.
