First wildfire of the season in Harney County

Hines-The 1^st Wildland fire of the year happened yesterday. It was approximately ¼ acre on Bruckbrush Lane in Hines off HWY 20. The fire burned dried grass, dormant sage and brush skeletons from a previous fire at this location. The cause was unintentional, from welding equipment.

Hines Fire Department says “Don’t think because it’s flooding in the low areas that things won’t burn in the higher terrain. Pay attention if you are burning this weekend and keep a hose or fire extinguisher on site.”
