PRAIRIE CITY – Staff with the City of Prairie City have been preparing for the 3rd Annual New Year’s Eve Fireworks Show, set to begin at 7pm this Sunday, Dec. 31st over the town of Prairie.
Prairie City Mayor Scott Officer recalled how the show got moved from the Fourth of July celebration to New Year’s Eve:
“[We’re] all ready for the Third Annual. The first time, you know, we had it all set to go for Fourth of July, and we had to cancel because we had fires going, and we didn’t have enough fire personnel to cover the fireworks. So then, we transferred that to New Year’s.”
The mayor encourages everyone to be involved, and to enjoy the show:
“Any of our businesses in town that want to take advantage of the fireworks going on…run a few extra hours, maybe set up a cider stand or something…make this a community deal.”
Folks throughout most of the town should be able to view the show. The display will feature over $10,000 worth of fireworks. If you have questions, call the City Hall in Prairie City at (541) 820-3605.
