PRAIRIE CITY – The City of Prairie City will be sending off 2021 with a bang, some pops, and a few sparkles on New Year’s Eve. The city didn’t get to have a fireworks show on the 4th of July due to extremely high fire danger. At the time, local firefighters were tied up fighting the nearby Dixie Fire as well.

According to a release from Prairie City Public Works Director Chris Camerena, “The city will be putting on our fireworks show on New Year’s Eve at 7:00 p.m. at the Industrial area west of the mill.”

City officials say the show should be visible from just about anywhere in town. The public is asked to maintain a safe distance from the lighting team off and do not block road access to the industrial area for fire equipment.
