HARNEY COUNTY-To better support local wildland firefighting partners, employees from the Burn District BLM recently transferred a Type 6 fire engine to the North Harney Rangeland Fire Protection Association.

The transfer happened through the agency’s Rural Fire Readiness Program, which allows them to provide training and equipment to their fire partners (at no cost to them!) so they can continue to suppress wildland fires together safely and efficiently.

Cooperative partnerships like this are crucial to remote wildfire response.
