Firefighters react quickly to blaze east of John Day

JOHN DAY – Firefighters and emergency personnel responded to a wildfire start along U.S. Highway 26, between John Day and Prairie City, near the Carter Ranch. Crews were able to get the fire contained and are in the mop up process. According to Sheriff Todd McKinley, the cause of the fire is under investigation, and at this time does not appear to be from natural causes. We’ll provide updates as they come in.
