Firefighters reach 70% containment on Burnt Creek Fire

ENTERPRISE — Firefighters continue to make progress on the Burnt Creek Fire, with containment increasing to 70% as of Wednesday’s report.

The lightning-caused fire has burned 4,169 acres, remaining within its current footprint and consisting primarily of smoldering, backing and creeping into unburned fuels.

Resources assigned to the fire are prepared to assist with nearby blazes and any new fire starts in the area.

Although all evacuation orders have been lifted, a closure remains in effect for U.S. Forest Service lands and roads in the area, including the Chico Trial and Chico Trailhead.
