WALLA WALLA – Walla Walla Public Schools has confirmed a recent firearm incident at Walla Walla High School, but did not give any further details on when the incident happened.
In a statement released by Assistant Superintendent Chris Gardea, he said this situation was unique because the district did not become aware of the incident until more than a week after it occurred. By the time school administration was informed of the weapon violation, the firearm had already been secured by the family and the student was no longer in possession of the weapon.
As a result, disciplinary action was taken and law enforcement notified. Due to student privacy laws, specific details regarding student discipline are confidential and can only be shared with staff who work directly with the student involved.
