Fire watch has been issued for lightning and hot temperatures

EASTERN OREGON – The National Weather Service in Pendleton has issued a Fire Weather watch for abundant lightning, throughout our region.  This watch is for this afternoon and evening.  There could be Strong Wind Gusts in the higher elevations along with the thunderstorms.  A Fire Weather watch means that Critical Fire Weather Conditions and Forecast to occur.  

While isolated to widely scattered storms are possible, abundant lightning will be possible with these storms across much of the northeast mountains. Concerns are further heightened due to recent hot temperatures. Furthermore, critical RH and well above normal temperatures will follow with extreme heat forecast this weekend.
