NORTH POWDER – (Information from the City of North Powder Newsletter) For residents of North Powder, the city has a few reminders heading into the month of July.
Fire Season restrictions officially begin in North Powder on July 1. All burning within city limits will be limited to burn barrels with the exception of some fire pits and grills. Burn barrels may only be used between 6 A.m. and 10 A.M., with burning prohibited on windy days. The city reminds residents to always have a water supply on hand and that burning may only be done on private property. In addition, burn permits are required, which can be picked up at city hall.
From fire to water, North Powder Public Works will begin annual water line flushing during the last week of July. Flushing will occur between 9:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m., with different sections of the city’s water system will be isolated and flushed individually to avoid cross contamination. Residents are unlikely to be without water, though it is recommended to limit use during flushing. If discoloration of water occurs, flush your own lines via an outdoor faucet before flushing indoor lines. Use cold water to avoid contaminating your water heater.
