ELGIN – (Infomation from ODF-NE Oregon) Oregon Department of Forestry – Northeast Oregon District, La Grande unit responded on July 6th at 9:15 p.m. to the #nonamefire in Elgin, Good Road, on ODF-protected land. There were approximately 6.3 acres burned, no dwellings, and three structures lost (outbuildings). We had two engines and our dozer on the scene. Two of our engines will remain on the scene today to assist with hot spots or flare-ups.
Multiple fire departments were involved in aiding to help contain this fire as quickly as possible. We want to thank, Imbler Rural Fire Department, La Grande Rural Fire Protection District, Elgin Rural Fire Protection District, City of La Grande Fire Department. Crews diligently had 100% containment by the night’s end. The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
