MILTON-FREEWATER – Fire destroyed a shop building and caused other damage early Friday morning at 12 NW Sixth Ave., just across the alley behind the Elks Lodge, 611 N. Main St.
The Milton-Freewater Fire Department, along with Milton-Freewater Rural Fire and EMS were dispatched at 1:46 a.m. A total of 12 firefighters and four units responded.
MFFD Chief Shane Garner said while the shop building was a total loss, the fire also damaged an adjacent home. Heat from the fire was so intense it melted siding on the back of an adjacent home. Four vehicles also sustained minor to moderate damage.
No injuries to civilians or firefighters were reported. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
