KENNEWICK – Firefighters were dispatched at 5:46 a.m. Friday to the 200 block of South Union Street for a reported apartment complex.
Two apartment units were occupied at the time the fire occurred. Two individuals that live in one of the apartment units went through a medical evaluation on scene as a precaution, but did not require any treatment or transport to a medical facility, according to Kennewick Fire Chief Chad Michael.
Michael said tenants in two units reported being alerted by the fire when they smelled smoke. None of the occupants reported being alerted by smoke detectors and no smoke detectors and no smoke detectors were determined to be sounding during firefighting operations. The occupants were able to safely escape.
There were no injuries to firefighters or occupants as a result of the fire. The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
