PENDLETON – The National Weather Service has issued a red flag warning for the Columbia Basin and a fire weather watch for the Blue Mountains.
Windy conditions coupled with low humidity will gradually moving into the area from the west today (Monday). The red flag warning begins at 1 p.m. and lasts until 10 p.m. Tuesday night. It’s also predicted that breezy winds and low relative humidity will occur again Wednesday and possibly Friday.
The fire weather watch in the mountains stems from the potential for two rounds of isolated to widely scattered thunderstorms beginning this afternoon and overnight. The second round is predicted for Tuesday to Wednesday morning.
Meanwhile, hazy skies are forecast throughout the region until tomorrow night. Those who are vulnerable to poor air quality are urged to take precautions.
