WALLA WALLA – Firefighters responded to a possible homeless encampment fire threatening a neighboring business on the 400 block of West Rees Avenue at 8:30 p.m. Monday.
When firefighters arrived on scene, they found flames on the outside of a large warehouse and fire extending into the building. Firefighters extinguished the fire that had spread into the warehouse’s attic area.
The fire was under control at 8:40 p.m., but firefighters remained on scene until almost 10 p.m. to make sure the fire was completely extinguished.
No occupants were in the warehouse and there were no injuries to any firefighters. The cause of the fire is still under investigation and property/contents losses are estimated at $5,000.
