BAKER CITY โ€“ An update on what has been happening at the Baker City Fire Department (Baker City Fire and Rescue). According to the department, Firefighter/Paramedic Roman Chavez recently took the truck on an outing by going on a visit to the Baker Early Learning Center.

The department noted, in a social media post, that kids practice their fire drills regularly and crews were given the opportunity to be present for their drill. Itโ€™s important that kids arenโ€™t scared of firefighters in full protective gear so showing them turnouts and breathing apparatus helps them understand that they are still the same smiling firefighterโ€™s underneath.

Firefighter Chavez is also progressing through his aerial apparatus training and will soon be the newest certified truck operator.
