BAKER CITY – An update on what has been happening at the Baker City Fire Department (Baker City Fire and Rescue). According to the department, Firefighter/Paramedic Roman Chavez recently took the truck on an outing by going on a visit to the Baker Early Learning Center.
The department noted, in a social media post, that kids practice their fire drills regularly and crews were given the opportunity to be present for their drill. It’s important that kids aren’t scared of firefighters in full protective gear so showing them turnouts and breathing apparatus helps them understand that they are still the same smiling firefighter’s underneath.
Firefighter Chavez is also progressing through his aerial apparatus training and will soon be the newest certified truck operator.
