Fire closes U.S. 395 south of Pendleton

UPDATE AT 2:30 p.m. Tuesday: Pendleton Fire and Ambulance and six other agencies combined forces to put out the fire that was started by a motor vehicle accident. Chief Tony Pierotti says that Umatilla Tribal Fire, the Oregon Department of Forestry, the BIA, Umatilla County Fire District Number 1, Echo Fire and Pilot Rock Fire helped extinguish the blaze.

Pierotti said the fire burned approximately 80 acres. No structures were involved.

OSP is investigating the motor vehicle crash and we have reached out to them for more information.

PENDLETON – The Oregon Department of Transportation reports US 395 at milepost 3, south of Pendleton is closed due to a fire and possible vehicle accident.

All northbound and southbound lanes are affected.

ODOT advises motorists to use an alternate route.
