CANYON CITY – Multiple agencies responded to a structure fire that occurred early yesterday morning in Canyon City. At approximately 3:03 a.m. on Sunday, March 14th, Grant County Emergency Communications took the report of a multi-structure fire on Humbolt St. in Canyon City. According to Canyon City Fire Chief Matt Turner, the fire burned two storage sheds that were back-to-back at the residences of 311 and 309 S Humbolt. The two sheds were lost, including a substantial amount of stored property. Each residence also lost two vehicles.
Fortunately, the Chief said the houses are still intact and no injuries have been reported. Both Canyon City and John Day Fire Departments responded. The cause of the fire is still under investigation. The Fire Marshall is scheduled to assess the scene today. Nothing further was released.
