PENDLETON – The Pendleton City Council meets at 7 p.m. today (Tuesday) and the first item on the agenda is swearing in six new members of Pendleton Fire and Ambulance. Later in the meeting, the council will also be updated by Fire Chief Jim Critchley on the impact of COVID-19 on transports.

Critchley said there has been a steady increase in call volume from month-to-month.

“It seems a couple of times a day we are dealing with a COVID patient,” Critchley wrote in his report. “These calls take longer than usual because we need to deep clean the ambulance as well as shower/change clothing, so we do not spread the virus to the next patient.”

The council is being asked to approve four ground leases at the airport, as well as sign off on a five-year extension to the baseball field lease between the city and Blue Mountain Community College.

The city has gun range agreements with the Oregon State Police, Department of Corrections, and Umatilla Tribal Police. At tonight’s meeting the council is asked to approve renewing those agreements.

The meeting is available via Zoom. The ID number is 848 8298 2122 and the pass code is 248854.
