HERMISTON – The Hermiston City Council will vote on accepting the final plat for phases 3 and 4 of the Legacy Park subdivision south of East Punkin Center at its meeting tonight at 7. Those phases will see the construction of 28 single-family homes.
The council is also considering a proposed rent increase for open T-hangars at the Hermiston Airport. They currently rent for $65 a month, and the increase would put them at $100 a month. The last time the rent was increased is unknown but believed to be more than 20 years ago.
The Oregon Department of Transportation is offering the city almost $266,500 dollars to construct the Belt Park Greenway Trail from Southwest Seventh Street to the Buttercreek Apartments at the end of West Juniper Avenue. If the council approves accepting the funding the trail will start at West Park Elementary and eventually connect to an existing pedestrian walkway and other trail sections.
The council is considering participating in court settlements regarding opioid abuse. Umatilla County and Pendleton are also participating. Oregon cities and counties are currently negotiating with the state regarding the terms of the payouts. Oregon’s total is estimated at $330 million currently.
The meeting will be held at the Hermiston Community Center and masks are required. It is also streamed live on the city’s YouTube channel.
