LA GRANDE – The Christmas season is still some time away, but that doesn’t mean there isn’t time for charity and giving, particularly giving blood and platelets. Various blood drives are scheduled for Union and Baker Counties throughout November. For anyone looking to donate blood this fall, local blood drives are as follows:
Union County
Baker County
Note that these are the last Red Cross blood drives for Union and Baker Counties scheduled for 2024. Blood drives will resume in January 2025. The American Red Cross is emphasizing the need for blood and platelet donations during the upcoming holiday seasons, writing in a recent press release:
“Eligible individuals − especially those with type O blood and those giving platelets are encouraged to make a donation just ahead of the holiday season. Blood supply momentum must remain steady, as the Red Cross has worked this month to recover blood products uncollected due to recent hurricanes. Any disruption in the ability to collect blood can lead to an impact on routine and lifesaving medical care.”
Appointments can be made online by searching local blood drives at https://www.redcrossblood.org/.
Walkins for local drives are also generally accepted.
