JOHN DAY – February is Teen Dating Violence Awareness month. Heart of Grant County Advocate Rayme Lacey said for many people, it’s during the teen years when they start learning about being in a relationship with someone:
“Teenagers—they don’t have a large experience in how to deal with each other in a relationship. If they can’t cope or communicate with each other, they could express their anger in inappropriate ways.”
A local 24-hour hotline is available for victims and loved ones of victims of abuse. Call (541) 620-1342. Visit Heart of Grant County on Facebook for more information about teen dating violence. Resources for teens and for parents are also available at futureswithoutviolence.org.
