February hit-and-run victim died Friday

KENNEWICK – The Kennewick Police Department reports the victim from last month’s vehicle-versus-pedestrian collision on the 5000 block of West Clearwater Avenue has died. Nyellie Perez, 28, was critically injured after being struck while crossing the street at 9:35 p.m. on Feb. 6.
Perez was transported to a local hospital and later flown to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle. She remained in a coma until this past Friday when she passed away with family at her side.
The driver of the vehicle that struck Perez fled the scene following the collision and was never located. The vehicle, which was left at the scene, was taken by KPD as evidence. DNA was collected from the vehicle and KPD is awaiting lab results to help possibly identify the driver.
