WALLA WALLA – Fire investigators have determined with a high degree of probability that the cause of a residential structure fire Wednesday afternoon is a faulty chimney.
At 2:17 p.m., the Walla Walla Fire Department responded to the 500 block of South Second Avenue for reports of a two-story dwelling on fire. Walla Walla County Fire District No. 4 also responded as part of a mutual aid agreement.
When firefighters arrived, smoke was seen coming from the attic space. After confirming nobody was inside, firefighters went to work on extinguishing the fire.
No injuries were reported and damage to the property/contents is estimated at $200,000.
