GRANT COUNTY – (Release from OSP) On Thursday, October 14, 2021 at approximately 7:55 AM, Oregon State Police Troopers and emergency personnel responded to a single vehicle crash on Highway 26 near milepost 152. Preliminary investigation revealed an eastbound Toyota Prius, operated by Janet Nevels (73) of Garden Valley, Idaho, drifted off the roadway, lost control and struck a concrete bridge structure.Nevels sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased.Hwy 26 was closed from approximately 1 hour. OSP was assisted by Grant County Sheriff’s Department, John Day Police Department, Blue Mountain EMT’s, Mt. Vernon Fire Department and ODOT.
