KENNEWICK – A family is safe, but displaced, after a fire destroyed their mobile home Monday night. Neighbors reported the fire in a single-wide mobile home at the Columbia Place Mobile Home Park, 218406 East State Route 397 at 8:52 p.m., according to Benton County Fire District No. 1.

Deputies with the Benton County Sheriff’s Office arrived on scene and confirmed the residence was fully involved. Firefighters arrived on scene and began a defensive attack on the structure fire. At least one other mobile home was threatened and received some smoke and water damage.

The five residents of the home, two adults and three children, had left the house several hours before the fire started because pipes in the residence had frozen and burst. They were staying in a nearby hotel along with their two dogs and were not injured.

The cause of the fire is under investigation but does not appear to be suspicious.
