WALLA WALLA – The Walla Walla Board of Commissioners meets today (Monday) at 10 a.m. and are scheduled to sign a temporary construction permit between the Walla Walla County Fairgrounds and the Washington State Department of Transportation. The contract allows right-of-way access on Orchard Street and State Route 125 (South Ninth Avenue) so crews can complete sidewalk and curb ramp construction.
Fairgrounds Manager Greg Leybeck said the anticipated construction window will be this April to May. Work is expected to be done before the fair, which runs Aug. 31 to Sept. 4. This construction project is the final part of the roundabout project at State Route 125 and Plaza Way.
Also on the agenda, commissioners will consider approving a proposal by Sheriff Mark Crider to increase the 2022 budget for up to two new lateral deputy positions.
