PENDLETON – The Pendleton Chamber of Commerce is coordinating an expansion in outdoor seating on Main Street with special areas already in place. Chamber Chief Executive Officer Cheri Rosenberg said that with the move back to high risk for Umatilla County, the restaurants need help.
“Twenty-five percent of restaurants cannot survive if they only have 25 percent and/or 50 people, whichever is smaller,” she said. “It just does not pay.”
The chamber is using sturdier fencing this year. Rosenberg said that there will be no parking spaces lost on Main Street because of the outdoor areas.
The chamber is also ready to work with member restaurants outside the downtown area that want to add outdoor seating. Rosenberg said such seating already exists at Cadillac Jacks and The Saddle.
“If you don’t have it, give us a call,” she said. “We did order more barricades than we needed.”
