Whiskey Fire at 140 acres; Flagtail Fire at 28 acres

GRANT COUNTY – UPDATE – 7/24 at 11:10 a.m. – (From the Malheur National Forest)

Morning update 7/24:

Whisky Fire:

size: approximately 140 acres

this fire is 80% lined. Crews were able to catch a .25 acre spot fire, it has been lined and a hose lay has been placed around the spot and is being mopping up.

Flagtail Fire:

size: 28 acres

Crews made good progress yesterday, lines held and they continue reinforcing those lines.

🚩Red Flag warnings are in effect for abundant lighting. Thunderstorms will be capable of strong outflow winds and cause increased fire behavior.

Whiskey Evacuation Notifications – Grant County
Due to fire activity in the northern county, the following areas have new evacuation notices:
A. Keeny Fork Rd to Four Corners including Magone Lake, East of Forest Service Road 3670 and
Middle Fork Ln is now in LEVEL 2 – BE SET
There is a Red Cross shelter is in open 24 hours at the Grant union HS: 911 S Canyon Blvd John Day.
