WALLA WALLA COUNTY — Evacuation levels for the Twin Sisters Fire near Wallula were lifted at 7:14 p.m. Tuesday, Walla Walla County Emergency Management reported.
The 8,262-acre wildfire is now transitioning into patrol status, with a hand crew and multiple engines monitoring the area. Officials note that resources in the southern portion have confirmed all major hotspots are mopped up as Southeast Team One begins winding down operations toward demobilization.
However, Walla Walla County Emergency Management warns that forecasted winds have begun, which could potentially reignite remaining hot spots amid the heat. Residents are urged to remain prepared and alert for fire apparatus working nearby. Authorities emphasize that the lowered evacuation levels are not an invitation for sightseers to visit the impact zone.
