EUFR responds to house, shop fire in Weston area

WESTON – East Umatilla Fire and Rescue responded just after 10 p.m. Monday to a fire at Highway 204 and Giger Lane in Weston. A house and shop were fully engulfed when firefighters arrived, and the conditions were challenging due to a live electrial line and metal roofing.

Firefighters focused on containment and protecting nearby vehicles. Despite freezing temperatures and limited staffing, firefighters successfully kept the fire in its footprint.

EUFR received mutual aid assistance from the Umatilla Tribal Fire Department.

No one was injured and Red Cross was contacted for the three people that were displaced by this fire. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
