EOU’s Maggie Ledbetter Named West Region’s Women’s Field Athlete of the Year

LA GRANDE – (Release from Eastern Oregon University) The U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches’ Association (USTFCCCA) announced the 2023 Regional Athletes & Coaches of the Year for the NAIA outdoor season on Friday. Eastern Oregon’s Maggie Ledbetter was named the West Region’s Women’s Field Athlete of the Year for her performances in the throws.
 
Award winners were determined by a vote of USTFCCCA member coaches at the conclusion of the regular season. Only those individuals from USTFCCCA member programs are eligible for awards.
 
Ledbetter is coming off an All-American indoor season where she was also named the indoor Women’s Field Athlete of the Year for the West Region.
 
With the outdoor regular season now done, Ledbetter claimed the top spot on the podium in the discus and shot put at the CCC Championships while placing second in the hammer throw on May 12 and 13. She enters the NAIA National Championships with the No. 1 mark in the country in the shot put (14.87 meters) and will compete in the shot put, discus and hammer throw at the Championships.
 
Ledbetter and the No. 9 Mounties will contend for a National Championship next week in Marion, Indiana from May 24-26. The National Championships are hosted by Indiana Wesleyan University.
