LA GRANDE – (Release from Eastern Oregon University) Eastern Oregon University is proud to announce that Jason Grant and Alexis McMurtrey have been awarded Player of the Week honors by the Frontier and Cascade Collegiate Conferences respectively. This prestigious recognition is testament to their hard work, commitment, and unmatched performance on the field and court.
Erck Hotels Frontier Conference Defensive Player of the Week – Jason Grant
Jason Grant, from the Eastern Oregon University, has been honored as the Erck Hotels Frontier Conference Defensive Player of the Week for his incredible display over the weekend against Rocky Mountain. Grant’s extraordinary defensive performance led EOU to hold Rocky Mountain to its season-low for points. His contribution of 15 tackles, including 10 solo stops, and a tackle-for-loss, was pivotal for the team’s victory. In addition to these achievements, Grant recorded an interception and returned it for 18 yards.
Rize Laboratory Volleyball Setter of the Week – Alexis McMurtrey
Alexis McMurtrey, a standout junior setter from Idaho Falls, Idaho, has been named the Rize Laboratory Volleyball Setter of the Week for an impressive second time this season. McMurtrey’s outstanding performance this week was crucial in leading Eastern Oregon to three sweeping victories against the College of Idaho, Walla Walla University, and Lewis-Clark State College. Her exceptional skills were on display as she led Eastern Oregon with 56 assists, averaging an impressive 6.22 per set. Additionally, McMurtrey contributed a significant 32 digs (3.56 digs per set) and seven service aces. Her consistent and superior play has been a driving force behind the team’s successful season.
