LA GRANDE – (Release from Eastern Oregon University) The NAIA announced the results of the 2022-23 Preseason Women’s Wrestling Coaches’ Top 20 Poll on Thursday, Oct. 27. After finishing 10th in the nation, a year ago, the Mountaineers will begin this season as the No. 15 ranked team in the country. Along with the team ranking, EOU had six individuals earn national rankings.
“It’s good to see us in the top 15 but it’s still early and we are not satisfied,” new Head Coach Mhar Caballa said. “It’s a long season and there is time to grow. I’m excited to start competing to show all the work we are putting in.”
Eastern will return four former All-Americans and has six grapplers ranked nationally in the preseason polls. The six are listed below.
Nayeli Flores Roque: 101 lbs | Ranked No. 13
Stephanie Blankenship: 109 lbs | Ranked No. 14
Kaylee Moore: 130 lbs | Ranked No. 6
Morgan Shines: 136 lbs | Ranked No. 11
Erin Redford: 143 lbs | Ranked No. 5
Olivia Robinson: 170 lbs | Ranked No. 2
The Mountaineers will begin their season with the annual Mountaineer Open at home on Sunday, Nov. 6.
