LA GRANDE – Eastern Oregon University holds its 91st Commencement ceremony on June 12 at its main campus in La Grande. The university anticipates awarding up to 745 degrees and certificates this academic year.
Over 230 students, including a few whose ceremony was curtailed last spring, are set to walk across the stage as their families and loved ones watch from vehicles. Pandemic safety restrictions led the university to organize a drive-through ceremony that will allow graduates to receive their degrees in-person, while minimizing crowds and mingling.
The in-person event is closed to the public, but viewers can tune in to the livestream on livestream.com/eou starting at 9:30 a.m. Graduates will walk with peers from their college.
Those receiving their master’s degrees will participate in a special hooding ceremony earlier that morning, marking the first time EOU has held a separate recognition for these graduates. Recipients of student awards will be recognized in the program and as their names are read aloud.
