EOU Men’s Cross-Country Claims CCC Under Armour Team of the Week Award

LA GRANDE —(Release from Eastern Oregon University) The Cascade Collegiate Conference announced that the Eastern Oregon University Men’s Cross-Country team earned Under Armour Team of the Week honors for the week of Sept. 5-11. With the award, Eastern Oregon has now won three of the four weekly honors in the conference to open the season.
Eastern posted a dominant performance at the CCC Preview, the Mounties’ first appearance of the year. Overall, the Mounties took five of the top six spots in the race and six of the top 10.
The eight-kilometer race was highlighted by Justin Ash’s standout performance. The sophomore from Baker City, Ore. ran a time of 25:30.2, beating the second-place finisher (Hunter Nichols, also from EOU) by nearly 20 seconds.
EOU will return to action on Friday on their own turf at the EOU Invitational. The men’s six-kilometer race will begin at 5:45 at the La Grande Country Club.
