EOU Introduces Kyle Treadway as New Head Baseball Coach

LA GRANDE – (Release from Eastern Oregon University) Eastern Oregon University and Athletic Director, Anji Weissenfluh, are pleased to announce the hiring of Kyle Treadway as the new head baseball coach for the Mounties.
“I would like to welcome Kyle Treadway to EOU as our Baseball Coach,” Athletic Director Anji Weissenfluh said. “Coach Treadway has the drive and passion to be successful that we look for in coaches.”
Treadway will be the second head coach of EOU Baseball since its reinstatement in 2021. The Oregon native has over seven years of collegiate coaching experience. He has been an assistant coach with Pacific University since May of 2015. In October of 2022, Treadway was promoted to Associate Head Coach of Pacific University Baseball.
“I am unbelievably excited for this opportunity and to be joining the collaborative community here at EOU,” Treadway said. “As a small-town Oregon kid, I feel this is a tremendous fit for me and my family and it is clear that EOU is committed to providing an environment where student-athletes can be successful on and off the field.”
In his time with Pacific University, Treadway had a broad array of responsibilities including in-game pitching management, recruiting, fundraising, and player development.
“Kyle comes to us after a successful stint as an assistant coach at Pacific University where he has helped build a tradition of excellence,” Weissenfluh added.
Most recently Treadway helped lead the Boxers to back-to-back conference championship appearances in 2021 and 2022 as well as a second-place finish at the 2021 NCAA Regional Tournament. Other highlights during his time with Pacific include the coaching and development of 34 All-Conference players, the 2021 NWC Pitcher of the Year, and two NWC Player of the Year award winners.
“My goal is to provide these student-athletes with the systems and tools to be the best version of themselves on and off the field,” Treadway said. “We want to build a culture centered around a feeling of family, and we want to involve those who are passionate about EOU baseball and its sustained success.”
Treadway expects to bring an exciting brand of baseball to Eastern Oregon.
“Fans can expect high energy and passion,” Treadway said. “We will play fast and aggressive which will provide fans with an exciting ball club for years to come.”
Prior to the start of his coaching career, Treadway played college baseball at Pacific University. As an athlete he was a two-season team captain and had a team leading ERA of 2.68 his junior year. When he was a freshman he helped win a conference title for the Boxers in 2012.
In the classroom Treadway earned his bachelor’s degree from Pacific in Politics and Government.
An Oregon native, Treadway graduated from Phoenix High School in southern Oregon where he earned first team all-conference honors in both baseball and football.
“He brings with him a deep knowledge of the game and the ability to recruit quality student-athletes that are able to excel both in the classroom and on the field,” Weissenfluh said. “We are excited for the future of Mountie baseball.”
