LA GRANDE – (Release from Eastern Oregon University) The National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) has published the 2022 Daktronics NAIA Football Scholar-Athletes with over 900 student-athletes honored. Eastern Oregon edged out Carroll (Mont.) and Morningside (Iowa) for the most recognition by one program. The Mountaineers had 30 Scholar-Athletes, two more than the closest competitor.
The Mountaineers more than doubled their total recipients from a year ago jumping from 11 to 30.
This Fall, the Daktronics-NAIA Scholar-Athlete programs recognizes football players from 89 institutions. In order to be nominated by an institution’s head coach or sports information director, a student-athlete must maintain a minimum grade point average of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale, must appear on the eligibility certificate for the sport and have attended one full year at said institution.
