LA GRANDE – (Information from Eastern Oregon University) For those looking to get their fix of college sports, the wait is almost over. Eastern Oregon University’s Football and Volleyball teams both announced their 2023-24 schedules as part of their season previews. For the football fans:
“Eastern will play 10 regular season games starting on Sept. 2 with a non-conference preseason match-up against Montana Western at home. The Mountaineers the following weekend will remain at home as they finish their preseason with a match-up against NCAA Division 3 Whitworth University.
EOU kicks off conference play on Sept. 16 as they travel to Butte, Mont. to take on the Orediggers of Montana Tech. After the trek to Montana, Eastern will return home for the next two weekends as they take on Rocky Mountain College on Sept. 23 and Arizona Christian on Sept. 30. Following the two-game homestead, Eastern will head back on the road to Montana this time to Havre as they take on MSU-Northern.
Eastern then will return home to take on Carroll College on Oct. 14 in the annual homecoming game. After homecoming weekend, the Mounties will have a bye week before returning to action against The College of Idaho on Oct. 28 in Caldwell, Idaho. The Mountaineers will have their final home game on Nov. 4 as they take on Southern Oregon University on Senior Day. EOU rounds the season out with yet another trip to Montana as they will travel to Dillion to take on the Bulldogs of Montana Western University.”
And for the volleyball enthusiasts:
“Eastern will play a full slate of 29 regular season matches. Once again, the Mounties will kick off the season at the Big Sky Challenge in Butte, Montana with four matchups scheduled from August 17 and 18. Following the Montana trip, EOU will head for warmer weather with an appearance in the Magic Island Hawaii Classic in Honolulu, Hawaii where they will play three matches over August 25 and 26.
Conference play will kick off at home on September 1 when Eastern takes on Oregon Tech at 7 p.m. Fans can keep an eye on a couple of rematches with last year’s CCC runner-up and semi-final competitor Corban University. EOU will take on the Warriors on the road first on September 29 at 7 p.m., then Corban will visit Quinn Coliseum on Oct. 28 at 5 p.m. The regular season will wrap up with a November 4 matchup against Walla University in College Place, Washington. The Cascade Collegiate Conference Championships will be held at the regular season champions home gym on November 10 and 11. For more schedule information click the link above.”
