LA GRANDE – In a recent social media post, Eastern Oregon University announced that had been awarded a $787,500 grant toward its Clinical Mental Health Counseling (CMHC) program from the Oregon Health Authority. For those unfamiliar, the program offers students a master’s degree is areas of study such trauma, addictions, and child welfare through a series of online courses.
With the new funding in hand, EOU is boasting that they will offer upwards of $13,000 in annual tuition assistance for students involved in the program. EOU staff are equally optimistic that an increase in enrolment in CMHC could, in the long run, improve the quality of Oregon’s mental health care, especially within rural areas.
Those interested in the program have until January 16, 2024, to apply. Additional application opportunities will be available through 2025.
