HERMISTON – The Hermiston City Council has approved a 20-year master plan for the Eastern Oregon Trade and Event Center. Assistant City Manager Mark Morgan said in 2019 there were many stakeholders with an interest in EOTEC’s future, each with a different vision.
“The city council decided to have the EOTEC Advisory Committee take a step back and really take a systematic and logical approach as to how the future development of that property would really look,” Morgan said.
The result received the unanimous approval of that advisory committee and is now approved by the city council as well.
“All of the various stakeholders on the EOTEC Advisory Committee are very happy with the product that came out the other side,” Morgan said. The plan has been discussed with and approved by representatives from the Umatilla County Fair and the Farm City Pro Rodeo. The future plans call for an indoor arena and meeting space and multi-use sports fields.
