ENTERPRISE – Twelve Enterprise High School students woke up early Sunday to travel to Stanfield to attend an Oregon School Activities Association Captains Camp.

The camps feature speakers and curriculum on developing aspiring leaders.

“This is an opportunity for intentional leadership for future captains,” OSAA Assistant Executive Director Missy Smith said. “We train and develop athletes to prepare for contests, and we believe we need to prepare captains and aspiring captains with the same level of development for leadership opportunities.”

OSAA expanded the camp to three locations this year. Another camp was held in Bend on Saturday, and another is planned Sunday in Hillsboro.

“These 12 chose to get up before the sun, hop on a bus, and spend their day learning how to be better leaders and teammates,” the school district said in a statement. “Proud of this group for showing up, leaning in, and investing in something bigger than themselves.”
