ENTERPRISE – As February comes to a close, the Enterprise Police Department recently announced it is once again focusing on speeding for the month of March. Residents and travelers are reminded to always follow posted speed limits, both for their own safety and the safety of other motorists and pedestrians. As the Enterprise PD poignantly wrote, “you may not only be impacting your life but the lives of others.”

The enterprise PD further shared some key facts regarding the dangers from speeding from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. As posted by the EPD:

  • For more than two decades, speeding has been involved in approximately one-third of all motor vehicle fatalities.
  • Speeding endangers not only the life of the speeder, but all of the people on the road around them, including law enforcement officers and first responders. It is a problem we all need to help solve.
  • Speeding is more than just breaking the law. The consequences are far-ranging:
    • Greater potential for loss of vehicle control;
    • Reduced effectiveness of occupant protection equipment;

    • Increased degree of crash severity leading to more severe injuries;
    • Economic implications of a speed-related crash; and
    • Increased fuel consumption/cost.
