Engineering Scholarships available to Eastern/Central Oregon students

LA GRANDE – For eastern/Central Oregon high school seniors looking to pursue an engineering or adjacent degree, a $5,000 scholarship opportunity is available through the end of March. Applications are open for Anderson Perry & Associates’ aptly titled Anderson Perry Scholarship, which offers $5,000 dollar scholarships to four local high school students ($20,000 total) planning to pursue an engineering or related degree post high school. 

These scholarships are available with preference to high school students in Eastern and Central Oregon and Eastern Washington. Ideal candidate attributes include:

• Success in high school STEM courses 
• Success in general high school academics
• Good work ethics
• An understanding of engineering career requirements  

Application requirements, as listed by Anderson Perry, are as follows:

• Transcript – Please provide a copy of your current high school transcript. The transcript should clearly show grades earned in STEM-related classes.
• Letters of Recommendation – Please provide three letters of recommendation: School Official – From a teacher or other school official validating the student’s interest in engineering.
• Work Experience / Volunteer Letter – Please provide a letter from either a former employer or supervisor from a regular volunteer position you have held in the last year. The letter should verify your work ethic and reliability.
• Other – Such as coaches, mentors, extracurricular club leaders, etc. attesting to the student’s qualifications and engineering interest.
• Interview – Finalists will be invited to a 30-minute interview with the selection committee. The Interview will be held using Zoom or Microsoft Teams.
