EMS responders recognized during Emergency Medical Services Week

GRANT COUNTY – Itโ€™s National Emergency Medical Services Weekโ€”a chance to show appreciation for the personnel who dedicate countless hours of their lives to save ours in some of the most intense situations imaginable. Blue Mountain Hospital District EMS Director Rebekah Rand was recently on KJDYโ€™s Coffee Time to discuss EMS Week and our local department:

โ€œWe have thirty-one people in our department. That includes both full-time and part-time, and volunteer. So, thirty-one people across Grant County are serving as an emergency medical responder of some sort. We have the driver, all the way up to the emergency medical responder, to an EMT Basic, to an Advanced EMT and Intermediate EMT, and the then Paramedic.โ€

EMS Week runs through May 24th. Listen to the full podcast with Director Rand as well as EMS Lead Makaela Hughett below:

The Blue Mountain Hospital District recently took to social media to recognize their EMS personnel. BMHD wrote, “This week, we proudly honor the dedicated men and women on the Emergency Medical Services team who are answering the call, day or night – across all 5,000+ square miles of Grant County.

From our fully staffed crews in John Day to our incredible volunteer crews in Prairie City, Long Creek, Seneca, Monument, and Dayville, our EMS professionals are always ready. Trained to the highest state and national standards, they deliver lifesaving care with skill, compassion, and state-of-the-art equipment.

Thank you for being the calm in the chaos, the help in the hardest moments, and the heroes behind every emergency call.”
