Emergency Management Coordinator on springtime disaster mitigation

JOHN DAY – Grant County Emergency Management Coordinator Eric Bush was on Coffee Time speaking about springtime emergency mitigation and preparation. Regarding flooding, he said he’s more concerned with debris blocking our waterways than ice:

“If we stay on the trajectory we are with the weather, we probably won’t see a lot of ice, but what we will see is a lot of water.

When you have a lot of water, more debris washes into the waterways and catches on debris that’s already there and that can create an artificially high creek level.”
